What the optional AI Writer does inside the builder, how it learns your voice from your own comment library, and what it costs to run.

The AI Writer is an optional add-on for owners, sold inside the product because it is a working tool, not a marketing feature. Here is what it actually does.
Two jobs, both in the narrative field
Polish takes your rough field note and returns it as a professional narrative. You write flashing bad, water getting in, recommend roofer, and it comes back structured the way a careful report reads, observation first, implication, then recommendation.
Draft goes one step earlier. Give it a stub like GFCI dead in master bath and it produces a full liability-conscious finding you then review and adjust.
Both run from a button beside the narrative field in the builder, and both leave the final text sitting in front of you as editable words. Nothing enters the report without passing your eyes.
It writes like you, not like a robot
The Writer reads up to five of your own comment library entries for the same condition and uses them as style examples. Inspectors with a developed library get drafts that sound uncannily like their own writing, because in a real sense they are. A thin library gets the professional starter pack voice instead, which improves as your collection grows.
This is also why building your library stays worth it even with AI in the mix. The library is the voice, the AI is the typing.
The dictation pairing
The mic button and the Writer were built to be used together. Dictate the observation the way you would say it to a client standing next to you, then hit Polish. Spoken language plus a cleanup pass turns out to be the fastest honest path from noticing a defect to a finished narrative, and it keeps your hands free for the flashlight.
Turning it on
The add-on lives on the Billing page with its price listed plainly. It also removes the monthly report cap while active. Founding subscribers keep their rate for as long as they stay subscribed. Cancel any time from the same page, and the core tool continues untouched, because owned software staying owned is the entire premise here.
Common questions
Does the AI invent findings?
No, and it is built specifically not to. It polishes and expands what you observed and wrote. It never adds defects, measurements, or conditions you did not enter yourself. The observation is always yours.
Why is this a subscription when the core tool is not?
Because AI costs money every single time it runs. Baking that into a one-time price would either inflate the price for people who never use AI or quietly degrade the feature. A small monthly fee for a real monthly cost is the honest structure.
What happens to my narratives if I cancel?
Nothing. Every narrative the AI helped polish is plain text in your reports and library, fully yours, exactly like anything you typed by hand.
