What happens after you add DFY setup at checkout, what to send in, and what your account looks like when it comes back.

Switching software has one real cost and it is not the price. It is the weekend of moving your template, your comment collection, and your branding into a new tool. Done-For-You setup exists to delete that weekend.
What it is
You send whatever you have, and your InspectorKit account comes back configured. Your report structure rebuilt in the template editor, your narratives loaded into the comment library with conditions and categories assigned, your logo and business details in place, everything checked by hand before you get the handoff.
The from-materials part matters. Old software exports arrive in every shape imaginable, including no export at all, just PDF reports. All of it works as source material.
What to send
The intake form on your dashboard asks for four things.
- Your current template, or two or three recent reports if no export exists
- Your comment collection, in any format including a rough document
- Your logo, ideally the largest version you have
- Notes on anything unusual about how you inspect
More context beats less. A sentence like I always inspect irrigation and my old software never had a spot for it turns into a proper template section instead of a surprise later.
What comes back
An account that feels like your old workflow, minus the parts you complained about. You should be able to create a real inspection the day of handback and find your own language waiting in the builder. If something came through wrong, say so and it gets fixed. The setup is not done until you can work.
How long it takes
Turnaround depends on the pile, and honest ranges beat promises. A clean export with a logo lands back fast. A decade of PDFs takes longer because rebuilding a template from finished reports is real work. Either way you get told where things stand instead of watching a status wheel spin, and the account arrives checked rather than merely migrated.
DFY or the self-serve path
Plenty of inspectors skip DFY entirely. The paste importer moves a comment collection in minutes, and template editing is genuinely quick once you have run a couple of inspections. DFY earns its price when the archive is large, the exports are ugly, or your evenings are already spoken for. It is a time purchase, not a capability purchase.
Common questions
How do I send my materials in?
After purchase, a setup banner appears on your dashboard with an intake form. Upload or paste your template, comments, logo, and any notes there. Messy exports are expected and fine.
What if I do not have clean files from my old software?
Send a few recent reports instead. Your working template and vocabulary can be rebuilt from finished reports, and honestly, they show your real workflow better than most exports do.
Who actually does the work?
